Sokikom is excited to announce that it will be hosting the first ever multiplayer math game tournament at the 2011 Microcomputers in Education Conference (MEC) on March 15! MEC will be held at the Arizona State University (ASU) main campus. Players will compete for nearly $1,000 in prizes!
Rules
Teams will compete against one another in a single elimination tournament by playing one or more of Sokikom’s multiplayer games. There will be four teams. Each team will have 6 participants and 2 alternates for a total of 8 students. To ensure that teams will not have absent members, Sokikom is requiring that each 6 person team have 2 alternate students to take a student’s place if they aren’t present during the tournament. Sokikom has the right to change these rules if it deems necessary.
Eligibility
Only students that are currently in grades 3-6 are eligible to participate. Registrants are encouraged to form their own teams of 6 students, but can still register without having a team. Although Sokikom will try to make sure that teams are fairly matched by grade, it cannot guarantee it.
Prizes
All participating & alternate students will be given a Sokikom math tournament T-shirt and a certificate. Students will need to wear their T-shirt on the day of the event to gain entrance. All participating members of the winning team will receive a $50 gift card and a 1st place medal. The runner up team members will receive a 2nd place medal. Students may also be recognized in local and state news—Television or publications.
